Updated edition of “Knife Engineering” available

I placed my order and should have a copy in hand by the end of the week. I can’t wait to have more flashbacks to material science lab like I did with the first edition. Perhaps I’ll get a few cases of cheap beer to fully relive the college experience…

My college experience included shaping a red dymondwood handle with a Dremel tool in my shared apartment kitchen. That was not a good idea but I was desperate to make knives. I bet there is still a coating of red dust on top of that fridge fifteen years later. That was not even the wildest knifemaking story from that apartment.

Got my copy yesterday. Perfect timing as I was planning to spend most of my time working on heat treat for the next few months. After I finish the batch I’m working on now, I’m not sure I’ll make another knife fit for public consumption until next spring. I’m committed to the rabbit hole for the time being.
