UPDATED- My first Emerson - Mini Commander, Custom scales:-)

Hey all,

about to join the ranks of Emerson owners....and I'm PUMPED!!!! I have alot of ZT's Kershaws and other nice folders, but have been waiting for the right opportunity ( and $$) for an Emerson for a while now. Went with a Satin Mini Commander. Its by far my favorite blade shape for an Emerson....though his bowie style is pretty sweet too. Should have it in hand by Friday, and I'm a customizer, so I should have it pimped by Saturday morning, Im thinking Jade ghost with reptillian pattern

What do you like most about your Emerson? Wave? Blade?, Lock?

Update: I got it Friday, pimped it Saturday.....went with a CF bolster bonded to royal blue G10, I put the reptillian on the G10....this turned out SICK!!!!
I'm loving this knife. Pivot was sticky at forst, but once I had it apart, for the new scales I cleaned & oiled it thoroughly, now she opens like a dream....I get the feeling I'll be getting the whoole commander family!

I love the ergonomics of Emerson knives, they feel great in the hand. In the words of Emerson himself,"As a designer the highest compliment is when a guy picks up one of my knives and says, 'Damn this feels like you made it just for me!" As an owner of the regular commander I get that same feeling every time I use the blade.

Love the ergos. The commander is a classic knife. I've been contemplating getting a partially serrated mini com to use as my beater.

I just like owning blades that are used by so many brave men and women around the world.

Got my first Emerson recently (cqc-10) and was initially underwhelmed. The knife was a throw-in to get a trade deal done and I really didnt care that much about it. I looked at it and thought that it sure didnt look pretty or have flawless tolerances and F&F. The liner-lock looked a little iffy too.

After carrying for a little while, my opinion changed completly. The thing flat out works. It is a joy to hold, cuts like a dream, and the wave has me so hooked I have a hard time considering any future purchases without that feature. I think you will definity like it. Its kicked everything else out of my pocket (until I can get a Super cqc-8 that is).

Congrats, you made an excellent choice. My first one was a micro commander and it does in fact fit the hand like it twas made for me. I do wish I picked up the mini but was not in stock at the shop I visit. I think you are going to have to keep us updated. I would really like to see what you come up with as far as the customization. As far as the shape of the blade, its awesome. Cuts well and not to bad to sharpen, I just swipe it along a ceramic hone and thats it. The design is simple and very easy to dissemble. Good luck

No way! I literally just got a Mini-Commander in satin/stonewash and bought Jade scales to make for it! I love mine and you will too, they should be twins (although yours will be wayyy better since this is my first attempt )
