Howdy guys
I have the opportunity to send Herman Williams some knives for recover and can’t quite decide what I want done. So I thought I’d see what you guys think.
Here’s a list of what all he can do “Stag, Rams Horn, Bone, Bone Stag, Exotic Woods. Abalone & Acrylic, MOP & Acrylic and colored composite materials“ so pretty much anything.

He can also polish the blades and everything it looks real nice and a lot more pretty file work but don’t think I want to add that much cost to my order but it does look amazing example :

Lastly what patterns do you guys think? I was thinking of sending these 4 and have all 4 done different. The 34ot and folding hunter are the ones I’ve ruled out of getting done. Already have a sweet schrade medium stockman and I don’t like the folding hunter.5730F228-3AF1-4813-A31E-2D21AD25B481.jpeg

What would you guys have done to each one? Should I take one of the 885s out and try to acquire an 8ot to send? Of course one of the 885s is getting stag covers but the rest is up in the air.

A few examples of his work. The jigged bone he does is pretty incredible I think.

Red bone stag which I think would look real good as an amber color

Thanks for the help and suggestions

Of what he does I love the stag the most and had an 8ot in smooth red bone that was pretty awesome too.

I just recently picked up a stag 61ot by him and hoping to get a 93ot in stag soon as well.

forgive my newb question,
Are you recovering those 3 on the right because they are fake stagalon?
they look great in the pix, lol

I do love the stag as well maybe my favorite stag in the world. Speaking of 8ot in red bone maybe he could recreate this
beauty for me sense I’ll most likely never find one

If these were Walden stamped I would be hesitant to mod them these are N.Y. USA stamped still 70s but easier to get ahold of. It Herman worked for Schrade from 1976 till closing as a customizer and repair man so getting a knife he does for you is arguable even more history
I don't know my friend, seeing you have a piece of cutlery history with those 4 knives I personally would not do it.
just my opinion.

They do look good but I’d rather have a nicer material that looks even better by a well you can see what I said above about the guy [/QUOTE="steelnut, post: 19094169, member: 189650"]forgive my newb question,

Now that is interesting,
I did not know who Herman Williams was.

Are the two "stag " knives pictured fake?
I would get them switched to real antler!

I vote for red or amber bone stag- terrific looking material and you can specify whatever thickness you prefer.
It's not so easy to get perfect and perfectly matched thickness on stag. Not a fan of the polished blades.

He has finished my knives. They’re amazing. I did take one of the 885s out for a 880 that had liner rust he removed and saved this knife from rusting away the blades needed aggressive cleaning so I just left them original but his high light contrast pics make it look worse than it is.

Both the 881 and 880 have his jigged bone which I took his recommendation on bc he uses the same tool and method Schrade used. He said they gave him the tool I’m guessing when they closed. He changed the shield out on the 881 to a blank one to make it more correct to a jigged bone knife.

The 885 was recovered in his very nice signature sambar stag. It’s not chuncky either looks great. Very happy with them can’t wait for them to arrive
