Crazy School Board People!!!

We are going to have 10 "Snow Days" to make up at the end of the school - NUTZ!

I can't believe that an inch or two of snow shuts this place down.

I don't know how else to explain it except that folks here are absolutely paranoid of the snow. It does bring out the crazies...:p....but seriously, there is no snow on the roads.

Well...the good news is....more time in the shop!!

I glued up some knives today already, roughed out others, got some kydex sheaths I'll be doing later...and will probably glue up more knives as well.

In the meantime, here are some very dusty pics!
:p

Glued these up this morning

Roughed these out this morning as well

Updates0209-02.jpg

Got some Nessmuks I plan on gluing up (non orders - haven't done any non-order stuff in months!)

Updates0209-03.jpg

The next set of Monster Nessies to be worked on:

Updates0209-04.jpg

A set of bushcraft knives for a dealer:

Updates0209-05.jpg

Survivors waiting patiently to be ground out and sent for heat-treat
I will be doing a few of these today and tommorrow!

Updates0209-06.jpg

ShortNess knives and a couple Bushcraft CPM154 leftovers - already matched to handles - will be sold as extras.

(cont. below)

A special project I'm working on. No details yet....will be glued up in a month or so probably....

Updates0209-08.jpg

Another run of CPM154 Bushcraft knives for a dealer:

Updates0209-09.jpg

Custom orders I have had on the shelf for a while and am now working on getting done and outta here!

Updates0209-10.jpg

The top of my metal shelving system showing the boxes of blade blanks.

From top-left to bottom-right

BushMasters (3V and O1)
EDC
BarraKuda - - Bushcraft CPM154 - - Bushcraft CPM3V - - Monster Nessies (just out of view)

Below that on the next shelf = 1st box is BushMasters laid out ready to start the glue-up process, and then next is a box of finished Monster Nessies waiting to be boxed up and shipped.

Updates0209-11.jpg

And this shelf I made the other day to hold my synthetic handle materials.

Updates0209-12.jpg

Here's what's getting Kydex Pants today

Updates0209-13.jpg

And last, but not least - a pic showing the number of knives I have boxed up or otherwise ready to go...just waiting for info or final payment.

Updates0209-14.jpg

And a pic inside my metal cabinet showing knives that are finished and are "waiting" for something....leather sheaths....multiple knife orders where one is done, but the next one isn't yet....and so on.

Updates0209-15.jpg

(and 2 very sad little boxes in the corner that have been there OVER A YEAR...yes, over a year - no contact from the buyers...no info....no phone....no email)

Well, that about sums up where I am at on my orders right now....it'll change by the end of the day... :-D ....as progress continues to be made!

Hey Dan, you should be glad you are not still in Maryland. 30" last weekend, possible 20 more inches tomorrow and another storm chance on Sat.
Scott

yeah, I can hear the siren call from those two boxes too...what is inside? I might be interested also.

Dan,

First question, is that a bushcrafter with no Jimping? If it is I might be placing an order.

Second question, is that the grinding stick you use to keep all your digits from turning into charred stumps while grinding the Survivors. If it is a trade secret I will understand:p:p

Dan whats in those 2 boxes?
If your willing to sell them I might be interested.

Being a positive-thinking..."ever hopeful" kinda guy, I'm reluctant to let those 2 boxes go yet. There's money involved....but somehow no info....and my emails/PMs go unanswered.

I also have a very nice black-leather, tooled, Monster Nessie sheath here - finished, boxed up, everything....and no address/email/phone/etc. Certainly could be my fault for misplacing the info. But I don't know what to do about it.....*shrug*

I remember in '04 when it dumped 24" on us...!!!! crazy stuff.

Dan,
Can I get one of those short ness knives?
Thanks,
-Eric

Dan,

I would like a ShortNess, if they aren't all spoken for.

Jim

Sure thing, guys. Any preference on handles or grinds? (I was going to flat-grind these)

Sorry, Bro. That is a Bushcraft in O1 "old school" with the thumbgrooves put in by hand with a file...they're just hard to see under all the dust!

Yes, that is a grinding stick to keep my precioussss away from the 40 grit belt moving at 5500 sfm (think about what it would be like to drag your knuckles on the pavement while driving down the freeway... )

I actually have been working on a design over the years...slowly evolving it each time I make a new one. Someday I'll make it "for real" and order up tooling, etc and make it something to sell. It is very comfortable.

thanks for the comments, guys.

Dan

Very cool

Seems like most custom makers have no interest in showing the inner workings of their shop the way you show it.

Don't suppose you have an unclaimed 3v bushmaster laying around there do you :D

Dan

I was thinking that orange g10 with black liners would be cool. Does that work?

I think flat grind would be fine. What’s the steel?

good ole toolsteel = O1
5/32" thick

BTW, FWIW....

I was working so hard today I literally blew a fuse!!!

Just got back from Lowe's with a new pack of fuses and I am back up and running.

All that grinding on the Survivors, Monster Nessies and WSKs....takes its toll on my grinder!

Dan

My God, Dan. I love your interpretation of the Nessmuk, it's the best I've seen! I'm gonna have to place myself on the list for one at some point. I don't have the funds right now, though. Freakin' economy.

Sure thing, Bro.

I'm surprised no-one has said anything about the super-sized Monster Nessie....

Dan

I noticed. In the second pic, first knife on the left looks to be bigger than the other Monsters. I wasn't sure if it was the camera angle or not.

What are your plans for that beast?
