Let me start by saying that the heft of the '98 Commander's feel is just awesome. The 2000's don't have that "feel" or heftiness.
With all this talk about thicker liners I can't help but think that many/most suspects would love to see thicker liners and handle material on EKI products. Is this true? If so then, would you like to see EKI's custom/production shop offer these as an option?
I would order one today if it were offered.
I am hoping the new pre-pro "Super" Commander gets spec'd out with the .062 liners like the ES1-M but that remains to be seen.
Back to my original topic...what would it take to make custom thicker liners and handle material for the Commander? Is this something that can be made as "upgrade components" for the current production Commander? If not from EKI FOR whatever reason then from someone else? I could assemble it myself.
Do copyrights prohibit this from being a reality?
How many suspects would go for a COMMANDER UPGRADE KIT! Yea! This kit would consist of thicker liners and thicker G-10 handles aka the '98 model.
Would Ernie go for it? Wonder what he thinks?
Lets call it something else. A name that will not leave the impression the regular production Commander is lacking because it isn't. A name like HEAVY DUTY COMPONENT UPGRADE.
