Happy holidays to everyone.

My question is pretty simple. Will Spyderco ever consider designing the beloved Para-Military2 so that it has carbon fiber slabs instead of the standard g10 configuration? I currently own the standard model and think it's great, but wouldn't it be incredible if they offered this model with textured black or dark coffee brown solid CF scales? I have the upmost respect for Spyderco's product line and currently own four models that I carry on a regular basis.

Please message back with your thoughts on this idea.

Thanks to everyone and have a Merry Christmas.

I think there's a PM2 Carbon Fiber CPM-M4 sprint run coming out soon, so you should keep your eyes peeled. if you miss it or if you can't wait, there's plenty of folks that will make great aftermarket CF scales for your existing PM2's.

There are already 2 cf pm2 sprints that I know of if you've got a few hundred you can get yourself one. I don't think it would make sense for them to make any permanent change although the s110 purple one seems cool and is not called a sprint so may be a permanent model. What would be awesome to see would be a military 2 same specs as current military but with compression lock and movable clip in normal spyderco configuration.

You can shell out some serious cash and buy one of the previous CF sprints.

You can wait and buy the Knifeworks Exclusive in CF and M4.

You could buy aftermarket CF scales from a number of sources.

Buying aftermarket scales would be the cheapest.

Dadgummit clanton, everytime you post that I feel like I need to run out and buy another one, jeesh,

Once again that is one heck of a collection.

I wish they released some with polished Micarta scales. I find Micarta to be a much more interesting and beautiful material than carbon fiber. Here's my PM2, modded by Kevin Smock and the scales polished by Steve Ketchen:

Brancron I love the look of that pm2, well done.

What's that extra curve between the spidie hole and pivot for? Just for looks?

28 soldiers perfectly lined up. Greatest PM2 collection I've seen.

Thx for the info and pics brancron. Nice little detail.
I'm guessing the micarta is slightly heavier than the g-10?
That Zulu is very nice too!

Clanton that lineup is insane! That's the biggest pm2 collection I've seen.

That's what I would consider an upgrade. I like the more polished finish and the sculpted scales, and you can do a similar thing with G10. I have a few folders with sculpted scales including a Spyderco Vallotton which is a really polished G10. Ive seen G10 with a little less polish which looks a little more like those PM2 scales and that is good too.

FWIW, "solid CF" is not suitable for knife scales, or very much else. As the name carbon fiber implies, it's just carbon fibers. Pretty much anything you've ever seen that's made of CF is either a CF composite or a CF composite laminated on top of another composite.

I'm not so sure about that. I engineer 5000 HP engines with some 40,000 ft-lb torque that are hooked to solid CF shafts in marine propulsion applications. A plethora of aerospace and high performance auto applications of pure CF exists.

If you are nitpicking the technicalities of how its made, fine but there are plenty of knives using pure CF in a general sense. They work great. Certainly pure CF vs. the CF G10 laminate on the GB and Domino is what the discussion is about. The US and Japanese CF is pure CF.
