Upgraded Smallsword

This is a smallsword that we just made Wednesday for our dealer at the Ohio Ren Fest. Like the Katzbalger, this is also a good example of an upgraded stock item from us. This is based off of our short rapier blade and our basic smallsword hilt and plate.

Blade length : 33.5"
Pommel : spiral fluted acorn
Grip: spiral fluted tigerstripe maple from B.C. Rich(http://www.bcrich.com/) with antiqued finish
Plate : Our standard smallsword plate with hand chisel work
Hilt : Our standard smallsword trainer hilt with hand chisel work

Looks great!

I know it is mostly for thrusting, but are the edges fully sharpened as well?
 
Not on this one, no. Certainly have made sharp smallswords and on those the edges are sharp. I have seen some original rapiers that were only sharp about 6 inches from the point, but I think most were sharp all the way down on both edges.
 
Yes Liam, on this piece we chiseled it cold. Some things we do are done hot but no need on this piece and yes it is functional as all of our piecs are.
