Hey Everyone, I am new to the forums, and wanted to reach out and get some feedback about the new type of OTF I created. I spend a lot of time on each one of these, and refer to them as Semi-custom. I hand grind the blades in wet silicon carbide to preserve the edge retention, avoiding any micro annealing at the edge due to heat build up (dry ground). There are more steps then I will mention here, but feel free to ask. A big part of what makes this knife unique is the patent pending bolt-action deployment and locking system. It has an always present retraction spring, like a tape measure, pulling the blade to a safe-closed position. The results are a fantastic audible and tactile feedback every time the blade is released and returned to its safe-closed position. And because it is a tool, a wrench and many other things, the handles are made in an aerospace alloy called custom 450, which combines the corrosion resistance of a 304 stainless steel with the mechanical strength of 410 stainless steel. The combination is delivered at an aged and hardened HRC 45 in the handles, one of the strongest handles anyone will likely ever hold, passing Grade 5 Titanium by almost double. ( they are a chore to finish, but seriously a new level of tough) This is a serious passion project that I decided to bring into the world and sell (on my own dollar) so please take a look and thanks for checking out UPKnife!
