Now I'm not much of a wristwatch aficionado, but it was perhaps fifteen years ago when I finally decided to get myself a 'quality' watch. Always wanted a Victorinox for some reason, so after careful consideration, I decided upon a Victorinox model #24220 (from the Infantry series, I think.) I like simple yet elegant, functional designs that can be equally casual or dressy, and this watch seemed to fit the bill (didn't hurt that it was one of the more affordable offerings, either...
) Well, after years of faithful service, it recently passed on... and I'm pretty sure it was murder.
I needed a simple battery change. I took it to a local authorized dealer and they had a helluva time getting the back off. After whacking a utility blade with a brass hammer into the case,
, the backing finally popped off and the battery was swapped for a fresh one. At first, the second hand began its accustomed trek around the face... then it stopped... and moved no more. After a 'generous' offer to disassemble to watch for the bargain price of $80 for diagnosis (no promise of a fix,
) I decided to let her go.
Yesterday, I bought a replacement from a company I know little about... Bering. All I know about 'em is that they were designed by a fella from Denmark who digs icebergs
D) and that they resemble models from a company called Skagen. The model I chose (11037-000) has the same simple-yet-elegant design as my old Vic, but just a little nicer with a slim titanium case and sapphire crystal face. All in with taxes... $160.

Anyone know anything else about Bering? I welcome any insight, thoughts and opinions!
