This is an open invitation to the Upper Peninsula Rendezvous 2012. Hosted by Bark River Knives, Blade Magazine and the Wilderness Learning Center, this weekend is a family-style camping trip on a private hunting preserve in Carney, MI. During the weekend, attendees can participate in various survival clinics held by Marty Simon of the Wilderness Learning Center and Kevin Estela of Estela Wilderness Education and the Wilderness Learning Center. Seminars will include a plant walk, fire demonstrations and "game getting" with a variety of methods. There will be a trade blanket, a community fire each night and plenty of time to share skills and talk about gear.

There is no charge for this weekend and all are invited. The property is extremely remote and there is no running water or electrical hook ups. There will be a port-a-john on site. For more information, please follow the page on Facebook for the Upper Peninsula Rendezvous.

If there are any questions, you can post here or E-mail me at Estelawildernesseducation@gmail.com

Hope to see all of you there!

Kev

Thanks for the lead time and announcement Kev. I'm going to see what I can do to make this one. In trying to plan it, I'd like to know how far a drive I have. Are you going to post directions or is this something you want to keep to e-mail?

Ken

KGD,

Anyone attending should contact Mike Stewart at Bark River Knives to help get an accurate head count. His number is (906) 789-1801.

I'm not certain what the exact address is but will post it ASAP.

Those are the GPS coordinates I received from Bark River Knives for the location of the event. I'm working on getting the actual physical address. Once in Carney, it should be easy to find.

Coming from the East (Escanaba, MI)
Take Rt 2 West to Rt 41. Continue on 41 to Just before Carney, MI, you will see a Cemetery on the right and the sign will be 36 Road. Take a right turn and continue till you reach the road M-3. Turn left and go through the gate under the sigh North Star Lodge. Continue till you pass the house on the right and then take the next right turn. Continue on this road about 1/8 mile and take the next left turn. We will be on the right side of that dirt road.

It happened and I have some photos. I'll post them shortly. I almost didn't make it as there was a bomb threat in Marquette and I had to spend a night in Detroit. Going to unstick this one as the event has passed.

Would like to see the photos.
I wanted to make this event but
had some family problems this summer.
(all good now)
