This thing is huge! For $65, it has to be the best bargain for any knife I have ever seen. I am completely impressed with the quality and the sharpness of the blade.

I normally carry my 4" AFCK. Everytime I pull the new Voyager out of my pocket, I just laugh. I can't help it.

Welcome to BF. I laughed too when I got my Large Espada. I laughed harder when I got a Darrel Ralph 5.5" bowie Maxx. This is normal.

Despite the brand on the blade, the Voyager X2 is indeed a very well made knife, and a great value for the money.

I actually wish other companies would copy Cold Steel on this one.

Ah, yes. You should also look at the Vaquero Grande. It's a beautiful, intimidating knife. The entire Voyager line is great. I wish I had one of each.

...Wait a minute...I do have one of each.

Yeah, when I finally saw one in a store and picked it up, I laughed too. All I could think was "pocket sword." Too large for me, but I can see how it might appeal to some.

I looked at one once, it wouldn’t fit in the pocket of the jeans I had on. Yes I laughed.

I live in the People's Republic of Orange County, CA. Our sheriff just revoked hundreds of CCW permits. So, the Voyager will have to do for now. I think it would make bigger holes than my .38 caliber revolver. You don't have to reload it either.

That's the spirit! Good on you! I'm a convicted nonviolent felon, so my combat boots (running) and my knife are my only line of defense. I live in Fresno/Clovis CA, so if you know anything about Fresno, you know it's good to be packing something.

BTW, here's my pocket sword collection. All are 4+" blades.

I've found that CS knives are well made across the spectrum. I've only got a few but even my lowly Kudu is well-made for the $7.50 I paid for it. I have a carbon V SRK coming to me in the mail today!

Cool collection. I have the Cuda Maxx knives too. What is the knife on the left?

Those are not Cuda Maxx's, those are the real thing. The knife on the left is a Cold Steel Large Espada.

I've got the 5" pe tanto voyager.

All i can say is;

Big blade.
Light.
Wish it had liners.....( prefer strength to weight ).
VG-1.....Sharp out of the box,OK to sharpen. Doesn't rust easy.

I'd buy the 4" clip point too.

Probably does what i need in a WORKING/BEATER knife.

Cheers!........:)

UPS dropped off my new Rajah II, 6" bladed folder today. I also had a little laugh, but was sorta prepared for it since I had gotten a 6" aluminum Ti-Lite a few weeks ago. It got a ear to ear smile and a laugh also! I have looked down a little on Cold Steel in the past as I am sorta a knife snob, LOL, but these two knives show great workmanship and solid materials, nothing spectacular, but still plenty capable of getting the job done. Plus, I just like mega folders, and Cold Steel is currently manufacturing the most.

Mike
How is the weight on the Cold Steel Large Espada is it a knuckledragger to carry all day?

It carries great in jeans. Don't carry with shorts. I also milled out part of the backspacer to make an attatchment point for a lanyard on my Medium and Large Espada.

I don't have anything against large folding knives and I like your collection but 'convicted nonviolent felon'? :foot:

Hmm - a few possibilities come immediately to mind - none of them savoury. Best rely on those running combat boots - use any knife in a fight even in SD and I think you'll find your classification changes very rapidly. Ever considered moving from Fresno or are the attractions of ongoing illicit activities holding you there? BTW I'm a CCO so could be accused of being cynical and biased - one of the reasons why we're excused from jury duty in this State.

Staying here b/c of my family and such. I would eventually like to pick up and move to a state with more common sense and better knife laws.

 You should never adopt other people's biases and attitudes without considering the facts and coming to your own conclusions. CS makes some seriously good knives - whatever the business ethics of the owner

Awesome blades Charlie! And a big blade sure beats not having anything if you ever did have to defend your life. Hope you never have to do that, but you gotta do what you gotta do.

BTW- I noticed you said defense situation, and not fight;)
