Finally got that email - the R6 is inbound.
The elapsed time has blunted my excitement, to be honest; but I'll be happy to shift this one the complete column nonetheless. (I'm not worried about liking it, that's pretty much a given - tan/black G10, with green liners, on a desert sage blade...what's not to like about that??)

I held off on ordering a Rodent Solution (or two) because I didn't want to leave anything else pending, and now they're "Sold Out". Hopefully, I can place an order with the custom shop.
 
They projected 8-16 weeks, at the time of order....and we passed the 6 month mark a couple weeks ago. :barf:
To be honest, this is the first order they've been late on for me - they've beaten their early estimate by a good margin on a few, and only went to the end on one before this.

Ouch!! That is definitely a wait. I believe I hit the 16-20 week mark one one of the last couple orders. However I just got a shipping notice on two custom shop orders that can't be more than 12 weeks old. I've also had production line orders that were delivered in two weeks, so yeah, you never know.
 
I wasn't thrilled about it, obviously; but I can't be too upset - I'm over 2.5 yrs into waiting on a piece (non Busse-kin) that was projected at 12 months. Every 6 months or so, I remember to get irritated enough to send him a few emails. His communication sucks, as do his excuses (when he bothers to send them). TBH, I don't even want the thing any more; but I had to pay a 50% deposit at the time of order...when he finishes it, you can bet that I'm going to be making his ass wait a few months for final payment, just because.

Back to the Swamp.
I've had simple custom orders ship in as little as 2-3 weeks...some at 8-12; and my Waki took about 20, but I was expecting that. I'm figuring there was a mishap; though maybe that's just because I'd rather think they had to start over than that they were simply ignoring it, lol.
 
I was talking with a Randall dealer here in Florida last week, he was displaying his latest shipment. He pulled out a manifest which showed he paid Randall over $20K for the order and he had to wait almost FIVE YEARS for delivery.

But six months for one knife, yeah that's still too long for me.
I like the looks of the knife, but not enough to justify that. I would rather just pay a little more and snag one here on the forum. The good news is, your order is on the way so congrats on the new Rat!

That's the expected wait for Randall's these days; so I'm sure he was expecting it. When I ordered my Randall's, I think the projected wait was about 2 yrs, and it took about 3. That was around 1998.

The big question now is "Will I be here when UPS comes tomorrow?". If he shows up too early, I won't see it until the middle of next week. At this point, what's another 5-7 days, right? :D
 
So my Rucki that is only about two months in will most likely take closer to the 14 week mark?
So far it's been a month and a half for my first two rats.
The Rucki will be my third, when it gets home that is.
 
Impossible to say, really.
Since I placed the order for the R6, I ordered a custom R3 (snakewood on satin), 2 BIG Infidus (Memorial Day Ganzaaaa - a Busse thing, but they're still stamped Swamp Rat), and a MMD...all of which were completed and shipped in a timely manner.
Refer to the time projection you were given when you ordered - expect the later, hope for the earlier.

Of course he expected it, I was just throwing that out as a comparison to your 6 months. I've been to the Randall shop, they tell you right up front what your wait will be. But it doesn't matter to me, I won't be ordering one anyway.
 
I wasn't stressing the 6 months - I started developing patience after I hit 40.
Waiting for the UPS guy, though? Totally different story.
(Mainly because I have to put my world on hold so I don't miss the delivery. The driver seems to have an uncanny knack for showing up 10-20 minutes after I leave)

I ran to the post office - gone less than 20 minutes - and came home to the UPS sticker on my front door.
 
2nd delivery attempt today...
I was getting out of the shower and heard the knock at the door. Threw on a pair of shorts & ran downstairs with the towel around my shoulders. As I approached the door, I saw that the driver was nearly back to his truck. I went out the door, intent on getting his attention before he could drive off...and stepped squarely on the box - crushing it, twisting my ankle, nearly losing my balance & flying off the porch. Mission accomplished - I got his attention!! (Not really sure why he left the box there, since a signature was required; but that's a thought for another day)
I still haven't seen the knife, lol - I was getting ready to leave for work, and didn't have time to screw with it - but, at least I've got it...and it arrived on National Knife Day.

Wow, hh that is an awesome R6!
Definitely makes me want to send mine back for some custom refinishing.
I would say it was worth the wait, and I like that you kept the top guard, the R6 has always been the Swamps answer to the TGLB in my eyes.
 
Looks great. Doesn't seem like a lot of R6's leave the custom shop with the top guard. I'm a fan of it though.

Im fairly new to how Busse/SR/SYKCO works.. how does one get a blade with fancy G10 when its not an option online..or a ratmandu in INFI... are you guys getting these through the custom shop or what?
how are you getting these options??
