Does this axe I found over on that auction site have its head wrong way up or am I just looking at it cross-eyed?

I've got to admit that, in my galloping ignorance, I didn't know what a peeler pattern was before I started this thread. Learn something every day.

I don't think it's a peeling pattern they have more gentle toes and heels. I think this one is upside down. But might not be tough to tell.

Sometimes people who have ground back the toes will flip the head to even out the wear. Won't the head loosen sooner if the handle is on the wrong end of the drift?

Maybe if you carefully measure the eye on both sides you will be able to tell. If one opening is larger, then that should be on top. If they are both the same, then it's reversible.

What halfaxe said.
