upswept vs. recurve on neck knife

Depends on whether you`re carrying that necker for SD or utility....I`d go with a tanto blade for SD, and a drop-point or something similar for utility....
 
For self defense:
If it's a short blade, I like a wharncliffe or hawkbill. Stabbing with a short blade won't do much but slashing with that kind of edge can do serious damage even with a short edge.

For utility:
Wharncliffe all the way.

You could safely assume that I love my Spyderco SWICK (I loved my SPOT too, before I lost it).
 
Got no use for recurves. I carry knives as tools only. An upcurve for me.
