I now this may be a stupid question but I know nothing about the stuff. Can depleted uranium be used as a blade steel? If so why has no one used it.Seems like it would make one hell of a blade.

Can Basic Members now use the "Search" function? At one point, they could not, IIRC.

Yeah, it works.Just tried it and found the thread. Thanks

Search was disabled for basic members as a desperate measure to reduce server load. We now have a wonderful new server and so search is re-enabled for all.

Just a quick question not related to the topic, what does IIRC mean?

Hah! I had to ask that same question some three or so years ago. Then some kind soul posted a long list of common acronyms from internet use and I printed it out for future reference. I tossed it when I no longer felt the need for it. I wonder if it still exists somewhere. :)

Umm,
short answer is that depleted uranium makes good munitions because its really dense and holds onto its mass on impact.

Not good for knives because contains no iron or carbon so cannot be hardened. Not sure how hard Uranium 238 is, Im guessing not too hard.

Too heavy, too toxic, particles from sharpening would kill you. Hours of fondling your custom Uranium knife would leave you cancer ridden and sterile.

If the military weren't using DU for munitions it would have to be treated as nuclear waste....Thats what it is.

Might make a good cartoon though.
