Looking at the wear on the RW, is the base coat white? I thought that it was black with white sprayed onto it. That is cool! :D
 
on mine anyway, it appears to be the pale grey base coat, with the darker over coat. i am assuming that's how they would do it on all of them. the SAR looks to be done the same way, just with more dark coating. also, the SAR finish for some reason is much more textured than the ratweiler's was when it was new.

i dunno.

EDIT: wanted to add that the base coat is holding up very well. granted, the RW hasn't seen EXTREMELY heavy use, just some log splitting and random chopping, but there is NO metal exposed aside from what was left unexposed at the factory (the edge!).
