Urban Camo & Swat Teams

Skunk has a post up for an UCSJ in which he references a swat team. It made me realize that I've heard the relationship mentioned a lot between the two. However are their any Swat teams that actually use urban camo patterned gear?

From the little I've seen of baltimore tactical units their uniforms are full black and D.C.'s are dark blue.

Is there any real reason people associate urban camo with Swat teams?

good question darkhog! i can't help but laugh at the "swat teams" running around in sinister ninja black with balacavas to hide there ugly faces. out here they would look like a herd of fat black angus heffers in the middle of a baseball field :D :D :D

the only way a swat team could sneak up any of the busse guys would be to dress up as a beer bottle :)

Seth:

Thats the second thought that I had, but I took some time to think about all the cities I've visited in this country and realized that urban camo would be just just as effective as woodland camo. How many cities are done in colors similar enough where urban camo would help make an object foreign to that environment more inclusive? In business disctricts you usually have massive concrete buildings, unqiue glass buildings, or small shops with bright signs so they are seen. In residential areas you are probably going to have red brick. Even overseas I can't imagine city colors differing too much from those in the States.

Skunk...tactical moo units? :) That would make a great comic strip, lol

You don't think we'd notice a giant beer? Although I've never really had a beer fight when I tried to pop it's cap off. :D

Nemmy,
Think not a brightly lit wall but look at the broken shadows. Why are fishing boats very light colored on the bottm when the water is so dark ?? :) ;)

huh?

i'll take a wild guess....

because the boat was upside down when it got painted?

ok darkhog, you take a stab at this one

so if the boat gets shipwrecked and is washed ashore upside down it won't be so noticable on the public beach?

couldn't resist, i had to have gotten 10 post out of this thread!

but i wonder.... are the tops of submarines painted dark, and wouldn't that confuse the fish?
