Urban Legends

Dead dog in the suitcase.
Short version.
Dog dies. Owner can't bury in the big city yard or doesn't have a yard.
Owner has to bring the dog's corpse into the ASPCA in the city for disposal.
He/she has to ride the subway & the only thing the dead dog will fit in is an old suitcase.
Owner gets on the subway and the suitcase is stolen from him.
Owner goes home.

Heard this many times as a kid growing up in NYC.

I don't have any specific to relate, but I read Von Brunnevald's book on urban legends a few years ago and was amazed to learn how long many of the more popular ones have been circulating.
Some date well back into the 1800s, being constantly updated to keep them current.

I love reading about urban legends.

Not "urban" so much, but basically local folktales.

During the Revolutionary war, an arms depot was hidden in northwestern Harford county, either in a spring house, root cellar etc. Never been found.

Supposedly, Bigfoot has been sighted in Harford County MD, and southern York county PA. Of course, the area in southern PA is a noted drug growing area, that might have something to do with it.

Last but not least, in relation to the Bunny man, I have heard stories about the Beltsville research center, and read about in the book Weird MD. Supposedly, the urban legend is that they are doing human/animal hybridization cloning there. Outside of the genre, I have heard all kinds of urban legends about the center on different "sports talk etc" stations coming out of DC.
