I've got a couple of sets of old sheets left over from when I purchased a new bed. I've kept them, thinking that it'd be a waste to just throw them out.

Since I've been thinking it over, I've thought about perhaps washing and drying them, hottest settings for both, and then measuring them for ripping into strips, for making "field expediant"-type bandages. You know, for holding other bandages in place, wrapping sprained ankles, tourniquets (heaven forbid...), etc. I'm thinking of making a couple of widths, 2" and 3", and having full-length and half-length ones. I've got more that one BOB, just in case, and tossing in a dozen or so bandages, made from otherwise discardable sheets could double as shock-absorbers.

What do you think? Good idea, or, should I just toss my sheets and buy bandages at my local supply store...? Thanks in advance.

Buy bandages at your local supply store. If you really want something to hold on tight, wrap gauze around old panty hose (don't laugh lol). don't throw the sheets away though, if they are linen (cotton) make yourself a supply of char cloth. You can also occassionally find unopened military battle dressings at surplus stores, I carry a couple they are good when you need them.

Cut them 36"x36" that'll give you a Bandana,Bandage Diaper, ect. you get the Idea:)

Bandages hold (hopefully) sterile dressings in place. Old sheets work well.

Also: signal panels; shade; expedient clothing; summer sleeping bag liners, AND MORE!

I concur with bigbcustom. Buy your bandages. They're cheap.

Keep the sheets, but don't cut them up. You can always make little ones out of big ones later. It's kinda hard to uncut them. Or use them up in projects. They are raw materials.
