I'm not a fan of Wharncliffe blades for general carry, but I can deal with it.
I've been carrying a P'Kal of late, a roughly Wharncliffe style of blade, and I see that I do a lot of cutting with that nice, thin tip.
That tip is going to wear and if I do any prying I know the tip is more likely to snap off.
The thin tip is nice for precision cutting, though. I keep a Wharncliffe bladed knife in my whittling kit for just such a reason.
If your sharpening skills aren't all that great, a Wharncliffe blade is often easier to sharpen, since they are simply a straight cutting edge..
