I seriously need help finding someone who might be able to fix this for me. I moved into college residences two weeks ago, and as a leaving present my dad gave me a 5-set of Ethos knives that had actually belonged to my gran. Because of this, they are a very big deal and I really had to look after them.

Anyway, I got into my flat last night and found a massive metal shard on the worktop, then I discovered it was actually a third of the blade of one of my knives - clearly someone had attempted to open a bottle using the edge of the blade, then put the broken blade back and said nothing. This was a huge deal, because obvious it has family importance and honestly I can bear to tell my dad that some drunk idiot broke it.

The blade is about 5" long, and just short of 2" has been clean snapped off. I have looked absolutely everywhere for a replacement, but because they are quite old they just don't exist anymore. I really need help finding someone who might be able to fix it, I don't know if it's possible to weld it or what, but I'm willing to ship it anywhere. This is a huge deal for me, and I know it's unlikely I'll be able to get it fixed but I really need to try...

Thanks so much to anybody who can help,
Mia

Sorry bud I think your best bet is to cut your losses and tell your dad. That knife will never look the same again. The best you could do is reprofile what's left of the blade back to a point but it'll be the 2" shorter if not more. Sorry to hear this happened.

I think re-profiling is your best bet. It will look different, but it will still be the same knife.

Thank you, I eventually did let him know... I'll see what he says about that, but I don't think it's my business anymore. Thanks for your help
