Hey, i'm just about to order the Spyderco Lightweight Native from 1SKS, when I notice that they list the steel for the blade as GIN-1, according to Spyderco and Knifecenter websites it's CPM440V, now I wouldn't be surprised if this was a typo on 1SKS's part, since it also lists the Native as having a 2.5" blade... but just the same, is there even a GIN-1 Native version? If so is this it?

PLS RESPOND ASAP, I'LL BE PLACING THIS ORDER IN LIKE THE NEXT HALF HOUR!

Don't take the info on 1SKS as the word of God - sometimes I miss something or forget to update something else....

Spark,
Is it possible to add in the ordering instructions for whoever handles my order to just double-check for me? Or would this be too much of a hassle?

RE: Spyderco Native ,

What?
Spyderco Native come in 2 types:
Light weight : FRN handle , Length blade 3 1/8, Blade Steel
is CPM440V, Made in Golden , Colorado.

Native 2 ( Stainless steel handle )
Blade steel AUS-10 , length blade 3 1/8 , Made in Japan.

I am very sure with these information, because I have both:) .
Are you talking about same knives ?

Yes we are, it's just that the apparent typo on 1SKS scared me more than a little, but given the information i've seen here and the spydie boards, I think I shall risk it and order the knife, hell I can't always return it if i'm genuinely dissatisfied, but this looks more like a SNAFU than a real problem.

FYI PETEDYEDGE, according to the folks on the Spyderco boards, there was a limited run of G10/CPM440V Natives :)

YoungCutter ist quite right to ask.. I went to austria 2 month ago and saw very cheap natives at two different knife dealers. As i found out, BOTH were GIN-1, and both dealers told me their main distributor had recently delivered a lot those old natives. One of them even tried to convince me that the CPM 440V version is highly unusual and is very hard to get. So at least here in europe a lot of those GIN-1 natives are still in stock, and even if you order a new one, you can end up with GIN-1 if you don't ask the right questions.
