Question URLs changed, can the old version still be made to work?

A quick observation. It seems now that the URL to individual forums has changed. I do a lot of linking into Blade Forums, and can't go back and change them all.

As an example, previously I would use:
http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/forumdisplay.php/718-Knife-Reviews-amp-Testing

but now this seems to be:
http://www.bladeforums.com/index.php?forums/knife-reviews-testing.718/

This is a serious change for any external linking into Blade Forums, as I suspect most links are now broken.

I put in a 301 redirect, bookmarks for the top link now redirect to the bottom. We're working on getting the rest

Whatever else might be done, will the newer URL format remain the same as it is now, or might it be reverted to the previous version?

I'm looking at creating more links to Blade Forums and just wanted to know which version is the safest to go for?
