Fig 1 lock looks pretty beefy! Reminds me of an Axis lock...sort of. Wonder what the slabs will be...micarta please!:D

PULEASE ALREADY JERRY!!!! The suspense is killing us, and my girlfriend is getting mad because you're denying her the pleasure of doing me in!!

That doesn't look anything like my folder! Where's the swedge?

(Man don't I wish! :D Come on Jerry time to bring this baby out!!!!!!)

Here is my nightmare scenario, Jerry announces he is going to unveil and sell folders at Blade this year and I end up not being able to make it, sounds like one heck of a nightmare doesn't it?

No offense to Jerry or the examiners at the PTO, but having reviewed the patent, I don't see how it gets by the non-obviousness test.

To get a patent, you're supposed to have a non-obvious improvement over the prior art. It appears that Jerry took a sliding lock (which I'm pretty sure I've seen before on other folding knives) and added a spring to it. And even if similar sliding locks haven't been used on folding knives before, I'm pretty sure that sort of spring-loaded locking mechanism has been around for a long time in other applications.

It just doesn't look like a patentable invention to me. But then, I just skimmed over the patent, so maybe I missed something.

I'm glad they went with a hole instead of the stud.

Does anyone have an extra P/N 242 laying around?

The Supreme Court came out with an opinion on Monday that's going to make this patent a lot harder to defend. You can read the opinion here, or just read about it here.

That's really stupid.

There are a lot of things that seem really obvious after you figure them out that are a total pain in the neck to develop.

This will give foreign companies free reign to violate patents left and right. That means litigation costs for U.S. companies will increase.

That's going to be great for buisness.

do us patents apply to foreing manufacture? i only thought that was applicable if marketed and sold in the us, but produced elsewhere.
