Steel = 1095
$25.00 not bad
Date of service:
Depends. Does it have a leather handle or plastic? Who is the manufacturer?
Manufacture date ranges from 1944 to the 1960's. Do you have photos?

They average $75...I've sold a few vietnam issue period M4 bayonets, at most militaria fairs I have attended the high end unissued condition get up to $100 - $120 and your used or pretty close to unused range from $30 - $75.

Good bayonets to mod when in bad shape...in good shape decent collectibles.

All USGI bayonets are parkerized,
appearing either dark charcoal (manganese phosphate) or a light gray (zinc phosphate).
should the sharpen edges appear grey like the entire knifeblade;
chances are it has been reworked at some point.
factory new knives are sharpen after the entire blade has been treated with it's protective coating or relevant mil spec finishing.

I had one that was unsharpened in issued condition (verified brought back by a GI in vietnam)...you get them sometimes where it looks like they were pushing them out quick.
