US wire rope supplier .

Can anyone recommend a US wire rope supplier in 1.0 to 1.5 Dia. @ 5-6 ft. lengths? (Not Improved Plow steel) ?
 
Try high temp tools, they have cable occasionally.
 
I am also in the market for 1 1/4" diameter wire cable. twenty years or so ago I got 20 feet but have just about used it all up making wire damascus.
 
Just checked HTH, and they do not have any in stock...

There's a website that says that they have some extra improved plowed steel wire rope in lots of different sizes. It's us cargo control dot com. Sorry OP, but that's all I could find.

I have so cable from there that works well.
 
I just tried to check on High Temp Tools and Refractory and get a 404 not found? Has anyone gone on their site lately?
 
Yeah I was on there yesterday. I don't have a bookmark for them and just googled, maybe they've changed their domain or something?
 
Just went on again and the site is working. The site looks a lot different, so they may have changed hosts and such. Yes, they are out of stock on wire rope.
 
I just checked with US Cargo Control. They have what they call Bright Wire Rope in the size I need which is 1 1"2" diameter.
But the minimum order is 60 feet. Probably 20 feet would last me the rest of my life.
If there is any interest I might buy 60 feet and sell some smaller pieces.
 
If the price is right get 60 feet and cut it into 6" pieces. Sell the extras in the Exchange for 25 cents above cost (plus shipping) and you can have the ones you want for free. I am sure they will sell out fast.

Do you definitely need 1 1/2"? I have some 1 1/8" that I could probably part with.
 
Go to an overhead crane company if you have one local. They have lots of wire rope for sale.
 
I was going to order a small quantity and then saw the minimum. More than I’d use for sure.
 
Found some online in lots of 5,10, etc, in varying diameters up to 1.5”. Comes in 10” lengths.
Trying 5 of the 1.5 to see how it does.
If someone’s uses a good bit it would be cheaper by the 25’ as previously mentioned.
 
Friday the 17th I placed an order with US Cargo Control for "Bright Wire Rope EIPS IWRC-6x37 class-1 1/2"
It came the next Wednesday.
The minimum order was for 25 feet but with 26 feet I got free shipping.
The cost was $15.38 for each foot. Tax was $23.00 which made the wire rope cost me $16.27 per foot.
This is improved plough share, and is all steel.

Well, that is not the wire Damascus blade I just made. I will try to post another picture of it.
