Moderators.... please move to appropriate sub forum...I couldn't
find one.

I picked these at the Swap meet yesterday... gave $5. Cleaned, lubed.
Seem to be of "pro-grade" level construction. Blades close smoothly. no gaps or
"chinkers" on the cutting edges. Really well made... no plastic bits.

Was wondering on touching up the cutting edge...(before I put to use) . Should
I use a file and free-hand ? , do they need to be taken apart to access the
edge ? should both edges / arms be sharpened? Please note the very
fine teeth on both cutting edges. Any advice/experience is appreciated.

I've found in the past these are multi-use tools.... glad to find one in such good
condition.

This is just my guess for sharpening would be to take them apart and stone or very fine file the edges that all the way back to the pivot if you just remove material in front there would be a gap.

Drum4fun, yes take them apart and hone the inside cutting edges, laid flat on a stone, like a fine India. They probably don't need much.
Their outside cutting edge has small serrations that I would avoid rubbing on the stone. Good luck, DM
