USA-made, or not?

I picked up a Texas Longhorn full-size stockman today in a group buy from a local pawn. Pics are NOT mine, but it's the pattern shown at left, complete with the long pull nick. However, the abbreviated blade etch and the OLD TIMER stamp are exactly like in picture two. Research indicates that Asian models seem to be coded as 8LHT. This one is stamped only '8LH'

What say you fine folks?

I do not know where it was made, but the muskrat is definitely not a pre-2004 Schrade USA knife. It's a Taylor made.

The stockman its hard to tell. But on the 1975 edition, it should look like this one.

The knife on the left, I can't see the tang stamp well enough.

The knife on the right is definitely a modern Taylor product. Most likely it's imported from China. I am not aware of any "Old Timer" branded Taylor knives that have been contracted to American manufacturers.
That's the first time I've ever seen that particular tang stamp.

This one is the "Old Timer" they could come in what ever stamp works best for Taylor.
I know you like the Old Timers Bob, Taylor could be trying to ge you to buy one... Ken

Bob, going bacy to The knives made by Schrade;

I was looking at the four knives in my Classic Display on the wall at home;

and noticed that all the knives have an etching of “a man with a hammer and anvil” on the bolsters.

I then looked at all the Classics that I have in the tins and white boxes; they do not have this etching.

'Tis the exact pattern that Thawke pictured, but with the OT tang stamp and blade etch as in my 2nd pic. IOW, not the full anniversary etch, just that small script and half-bull. I was thinking that long pull may indicate Camillus production, but I am all green at this , LOL.

The Taylor contracted Camillus knives were stamped with SCHRADE WALDEN USA on the front, and I don't believe they made any commemorative editions like the Texas Longhorn.

I have the USA 1975 display set on the wall above my computer...I just took some quick snaps of the pertinent points to look for to confirm genuine USA made and not a Chitschrade clone....LH, =Longhorn, is stamped on pile side of both sheepfoot and ""nutting"" blade....Master Tang stamp Mark side, Schrade USA 88LH Serial# to bottom mark side bolster, in this case mine is 07588. The master blade etch and the handle long horn are self explanatory. Trust this helps. Hoo Roo
