Hi all, brand new member here. Been lurking for a short time. I'm a mostly novice knife guy but recently have gotten bitten by the AXE bug as well.
Did some searches on here but couldn't get a complete answer to who is actually manufacturing the axe heads in the US. I know Council Tool is, and maybe a few other's?
I want to by a U.S. axe, and Council Tool looks good, any suggestions?

Estwing is nice, looking for a wooden handle though.
Checking out True Temper per your links, thanks.
Barco is a possibility,...
Vintage on fleabay is a possibility,....
I need a splitting maul, and a boys axe for small work.
For the maul, 8 pound or 6? Axe eye or sledge eye?

For new definitely Council Tool. Or as Crazyotter said above an old vintage USA made head are great too if you want more of a project.

Personally I think a new axe user should start with a head that needs work and bring back to life and hang it. If you can't fix/maintain an axe you shouldn't have one. Plus it's just fun :)
