With the threat of tarrifs on the close horizon I realized that many of the steels we use are European sourced.

What common steels that we use for knives are melted in the USA without the need for any trips to Europe? Sounds like all the domestic PM steels will now have to make a trip to Eurpoe to be atomized.

Does an outside process dictate orgin?
Not sure what counts as what?
Yes, obviously it sounds like extra from the extra shipping charges.

Most conventional grades also come from outside the US.

There are companies producing some common grades.

52100, 1095, 1080/1084, 5160, 440c, A2, D2, M2, 420, are a few I can think of.

What about 154cm?

And thank you for your response.

Edit: I see that the heat certificates for 154cm from NJSB is from NSM with USA origin.
