Recommendation? Usable Sheath for TAK-1?

I recently bought myself a TAK-1 which should be arriving in a week or so. I came to this conclusion after talking with a few friends and watching a handful of Youtube videos, and most people who own this knife seem to love almost everything about it except for the sheath, which does seem fairly low quality. As I have a week or two before I even get this knife I am in no rush, however, because I am a broke college kid who just wants a decent woods knife I am not ready to pay $30 for a kydex sheath with some gimmicks that I may or may not even use, along with the fact that "high tech" isn't exactly my taste.

So, to round out this poorly written essay, does anyone have any recommendations for a leather sheath that fits the TAK-1, has a 3" belt loop, and costs ~$15? Any information is helpful.

One thing that may help me a lot is if anyone knows the exact blade breadth, I believe it is between 1.5 and 2 inches but I am probably wrong

You can contact one of the sheath makers listed in the , Sheath Makers and Such of Blade forums, sticky thread that is at the top of this sub forum. I think it unlikely that you will find one that will make a sheath for $15. I think your better option is to ask your question in the Ontario knife Sub forum. The guys there will know the knife, it's size, and maybe what sheath from another knife will fit.

This sub forum is about how to make sheaths, not where to buy sheaths. So If you decide you want to make your own sheath, you can expect to find a lot of help here.

I actually do have a fair amount of leather that I use to make shepherd's slings with. How difficult is it to make a sheath?

I don't consider it difficult. But it is really easy to go down the I need more tools rabbit hole, and end up spending more on tools and supplies than it would cost to buy a sheath custom made. It's not mandatory to do that but very easy. All you really need is a couple of harness needles and some thread, Leather, a sharp knife, a way to evenly space your stitching holes, and something to punch those holes . There is a sticky,
Tutorial and WIP Links. I suggest reading ALL of the tutorial threads, paying special attention to the The Frugal Leather Craftsman thread. Read the tutorials. The guys that wrote them, are a lot better at this than I am. Come back and ask any and all questions you have, and then decide if it's something you want to try.
