This is probably old news to many folks here;
I was wanderig though the local Barnes & Noble bookstore yesterday and found a copies of the Airforce Search and Rescue Survival Training Manual ($13.00) (ISBN 0-7607-4766-0) in the bargain books section.
I am pretty impresed with this one, Its much more detailed than FM 21-76 (US Army Survival manual), and covers additional things like montineering. It is also the first manual that I have seen that mentions cleaning a rabbit by holding its upper parts and giving it a swift swing (I was taught a similar but slightly different method in my youth).
Its definately worth checking out, I consider this book a worthy addition to my survival library.
Enjoy!

If it is the big thick book...it is a good one. I also like the Navy book written by the Craigheads...

Both good military reference material....

Did any of you guys ever read the Zeke book?

Yeah Buddy.

The USAF wilderness survival manual was the basic text for the wilderness survival class I took in college (the class was taught by a group of retired para-rescuemen). If the book you have is anything like that which we used (and I assume it is), then you have a very useful and reliable manual :)

What is the military designation #?, i.e., FM _______________ ?

I have access to all the military manuals on-line -- I'll see if it can be downloaded.

Yep ... Its AF Regulation 64-4. I didn't realise it was availiable in pdf, I still like books better than staring at a monitor, though. (Just ol' fashioned, I guess)
Enjoy!
