Hi Jeff;
I was at a fire where i became snared in some light gauge wire hanging from a burned heating duct. The tool I had at hand was my RC-3 which I carry to cut away from my SCBA harness as a last resort.
I made a loop of the wire and drew the edge down forcefully against the wire. While it did not cut the wire it did score it so that I could break it with a reverse bend.
Here is my question how hard would it be grind the top of the spine to have a file edge? So it could cut wire better.
I understand it would not be a very marketable option, but in it's niche that would be really sweet. Love the knife.
Go RAT! Bruce

Hi Bruce,

At this stage I doubt we would do any mods on the knife. Maybe a new model might have something along those. Not sure yet.

Anyway, glad it worked out for you and we appreciate the post about real world use.

Thanks,

Jeff

Kind of a related question...I know that you feel you should use the edge of your knife on firesteels, but a lot of guys like to use the back. What would you think of grinding a portion of the back of the blade concave, like an ice skate? This would give a sharp edge for firesteels, without sacrificing your primary edge.

I plan on trying this on a mora to see how it works - no reason to abuse an expensive knife like yours!

That's a real possibility on a future designs.
