The S&M #69 Barlow Sheepsfoot finally arrived Friday & it's a beauty....

I knew it was a serialized run but I didn't realize I was actually getting #1 of 100.

Now I would like some advice:

would it be crazy to use this as a regular pocketknife

or would it be more crazy to lock it up in a safe?

(no, I do not want to sell it.)

I'm not 100% sure of this...but most runs that have serial numbers that don't follow a sequential order are typically all labeled 1 of 100.

Possibly all 100 of the run could have been marked "#1 out of 100".

In other words, you and 99 others have Exactly the same knife. Serialized knives typically have a # stamped/engraved on the mark side bolster. Cut away!

Yep - that just means the run is limited to 100 knives. That's not the serial #. If you bought it for a user, then use it.

C'mon ... put in your pocket and use it. It really begs for getting used. If you worry about it, getting scratched while carry you could make yourself a leather case for pocket carry. It is easily made.

Honestly, I don´t think it is actually #1 but one of hundret that are made. Great looking knife, btw. :)

You stole my #1!! ;) Like everybody else said these are just 1 of 100 and yours could be #1 or #100. With that being said I'd say use it! They are a great knife with a steel you don't typically see on production made slipjoints. Here's mine shortly after I bought it.

Boy oh boy...you guys sure know how to take the wind out the OP's sails.

But for sure it is a SWEEEET Knife.

Tom

Beat the living snot out of that bad boy! Not using a knife is like having a Camaro and going less than 40 your whole life.

Congrats on a special beauty.

In my opinion, knives are meant to be used.

Yeah -I was taken aback by the whole its not number 1 thing.
Could it perhaps be jealousy rearing its green eyed head?:p It happens from time to time.
Putting it into another perspective they only made 100 of them , in the world. Use it but be careful. It's rare.:)
