Use of an AK?

I currently have a GW, BTACLE, and FBMCG, which fulfills the standard need of a "small, medium, and chopper" when you're out in the woods. I'm curious where people fit an AK into their lives. Does it make a decent chopper of light branches if you're out in the woods? Or do most folks reserve it for the mutant zombie attack? :) Thanks, have a good new year.

And only 9 days left until I get to leave the desert and get home. And have brand new INFI waiting for me too!

With the right edge, the AK will chop small green stuff (1") and light vegetation very well, but won't compare to a FFBM on a good sized log.

They're also a lot of fun just to leave on the mantle -- so you can do a few air chops every now and then

For clearing brush, the AK is a great tool. Works well on limbing small branches too.

It's THE PERFECT blade for slaying Halloween pumpkins and Christmas trees.

Mutant ......... Zombies???? I didnt think about MUTANT zombies!!! Holy Crap! Now I have to find another AK!!!! There goes the New Years beer fund. :o

For me it fits into the SD/Utility niche. I have trained in FMA for over 15 years and believe it or not, the AK works really well for me. When the bullets run low, or couldn't/shouldn't be used, it is a terror. Plus, and this may sound corny, there is just something poetic in sword work. Lots of discipline. So it's also a way to release stress for me.

But the AK is also a good choppper. Not the best. It's no FBM as stated above. But it is, what I refer to as, my "survival sword".

I have batoned, pried, and even thrown (for fun) my AK and it begs for more.

Oh, and it should take care of the "mutant zombies, nicely. Now the acid spitting zombies are another story.:eek::eek:
