Where can I find some books or videos on the application of the karambit. I found the one on the back of the Kris Kutlery catalog quite interesting. I had never seen one before. I looked on a couple of web sites and found one site that indicated the crkt bear claw and the lagriffe from EKI were versions of the karambit. The one on the catalog looks much more business like, what with the nearly 6" blade and double edge. Anyone have any experience w/ Kris Kutlery, as they are the only place I've seen selling this version. You guys have always provided good info before. I hope you can come up w/ more on this question.

Unique Publications will soon be releaseing a Karambit book written by Steve Tarani. You can call them and see what the release date will be.
1-800-332-3330 they also have a three tape series on the Karambit by Steve Tarani.

I have the newest tape on the Karambit featuring Steve Tarani. This tape is produced by Creative Concepts. If your interested send me an email for price.

Elwin,

If your looking for a Karambit blade, take a look at the Strider Karambit or any of Richard Derespina (RDT)Karambit. I own one of the Kris Cutlery Karambit it's a nice blade but I would never depended on it in a self defense situation. I do not no your intention with the Karambit. If your looking for something to add to a collection are do some Martial Art Kata, then go with the Kris Cutlery. If you looking for a self defense tool look at the Strider, Derespina or go to www.tripleaughtdesign.com.

I hope this helps, Brian

Brian,
I'm interested in one of those Karambit tapes. Is it as
basic as the Tarani knife tape is or a little more advanced.
Email me.

Ray,

The Karambit tape is real good and it show some good street application.

I have his first set of tapes that was produce by Unique Publication and it's OK. His new tape is a lot better I think.

I have all four Karambit tapes by Steve Tarani. Out those, I find the new one that Randal16-1 has to be the best. It takes all the material from the prior three plus new stuff and combines them into one tape.

You can get Steve Tarani's newest tape from me.
Send me an email for more info.

Pete, I am glad you like my collection. I will be adding a couple more to my collection soon.

I got the latest Tarani video on the Kerambit from Brian and really liked it. Lots of info. The techniques shown are somewhat different from the ones I've been learning from Guro Ray Dionaldo (Filipino Combat Systems/Sayoc Kali), which made it an even better value to me, since I got to add something new to my repertoire.
I haven't seen the Unique tapes, so I can't compare.

I have the Karambit tape coming thanks to Brian. I'll probably have to get a Karambit now.

Brian give us a run down on those Karambits
from top to bottom. What are they?

Run down on the Karambits from top to bottom.

1. I pick this one up from Richard Derespina. He had it made by someone else.

2 & 3. Are from the late Guru Pendekar Herman Suwanda. These are traditional Karambits from West Java.

4. Is a custom Karambit made by Richard Derespina.
Richard is also making more traditional karambit and does some awesome work.

5. Is a JSP BladeRigger Karambit.
