Hey everyone, I scored this used and beat up Camillus BK3 off the bay for very cheap. As you can see from the pictures it has been used pretty hard and not really taken care of. It has absolutely no edge whatsoever and is a bit pitted. I am working on bringing it back to a nice usable condition. It is still a very nice capable tool. So far i have just started to sand off the rust/coating. What do you think the best option is to get an edge back? I am thinking of just sending it off to a professional for that part. What do you guys think? Thanks for looking.

I would use the opportunity to hand sharpen that blade
No fear of messing it up
Maybe you could convex it using the mousepad/sandpaper technique

Good point. You are right it is one that i couldn't really mess up. It also needs a sheath. I'm hoping to find a used spec ops or something similar for it. Do you or anyone else have experience with sharpening the bk3? Ty for the info.

Cool if it was cheap enough.

I got a BK3 for Christmas. Great tool now sits in my car for roadside emergency type stuff.

Yeah man. 23 shipped. I couldn't pass it up. It seems like it would be ideal for a car kit but i'm sure it can hold its own out in the woods too.

file, stone, refine later if you feel like

A score for sure.

Looks like any love that that TacTool got (if any at all) was tough love.

It would appear as though you already have it looking respectable ... seasoned, but respectable nonetheless.

Maintain course and speed.

Absolutely. I find the BK-3 to be a very capable woods tool - not the best chopper, but it works, unbeatable for prying, digging and batoning. All this in an easily carried tool. In fact, Ron Hood (R.I.P.) had one in one of his videos and apparently quite liked it for outdoor use.

Thanks for the info guys. I have to honestly say this wasn't on the top of the list of knives to buy but i am sure glad i got it. It seems like it will be very fun to use.
