Used Camillus BK9 or New Kabar BK9?

I am wrestling between purchasing a used Camillus BK9 or a new Kabar BK9. The Camillus one is convexed and stripped, which is what I would do anyway, so it saves some time. The warranty is the thing that I'm hung up on. With a new Kabar BK9, I would have the comfort of knowing that Kabar would take care of me if something unexpected should happen to the blade in normal use...

What are your thoughts?

I say go with the new. Also the fit and finish on kabars is better then the camillus i think.

It depends on what you want to use it for. For batoning the thickness of the cammilus might appeal to you. I have the kabar, and it is a great knife. I prefer to baton withe the 2 b/c of the thickness. Good luck on your decision.

That's another point in the decision. I really like the extra thickness of the Camillus...

My standard answer is "get 'em both". If you get a good price on the camillus then get it, and get the kabar later.

Slap has a point, the BK9 is around and will be around, the Cam, setup how you like it, ready to go. I say, grab the Cam, later down the road, grab a Kabar.

I'm sure the Camillus one is fantastic but the KaBar one is one big chunk of flat black greatness. Personally, I'd feel a little weird using something I couldn't really replace easily but the KaBar one - oh heck yeah!

Get the Camillus one. Kabar Beckers won't be going away any time soon, as has been already said. Use the Camillus for now and save for the Kabar, just be gentle on the Camillus if you're worried about it.

It's worth having both, the Camillus is significantly thicker and heavier. Get one now and the other later.

Camillus :)

and for the love of our gods, don't baton indiscriminately :) baton with the grain, not against it, don't go through rocks and knots. you probably won't ever break it, but if you chip it out, it was surely your fault ;) so reprofile it, and move on. otherwise, use the crap out of it. presumably, it's already passed muster.

i'm slightly amused people worry about the warrant on these things, but then i realize, people use these harder than i ever would, and actually do approach the edge of performance.

me thinks he went with the Camillus!

Indeed. The Camillus it is. Thank you guys for all your advice! It should be on the way today. It's a user, so I'll have to work on the edge a bit, but I got it for a good price.

Bladite, I have never broken a knife, but it's just a comforting thought to know that someone has your back if a knife fails for some reason in normal use. I'm not a knife abuser...
