... and it was so boring!

I've been learning to sharpen freehand and, while I still have a lot to learn, I've gotten pretty proficient at it. The edge pro was always my "safety net" that I could use to fix mistakes with. Not that I ever did. I still have some folders that I don't "dare" freehand sharpen just yet (working my way up). One of those blades is my small CRK Sebenza. I had gotten a small chip(/dent/whatever) in the edge and pulled out ye olde edge pro.

I really missed the feeling of just going for it and going with your gut that I get when freehanding. The results are fine, but it felt laborous instead of fun. An interesting thing was that I noticed mistakes I had made last time sharpening the blade on the edge pro even though I've hardly used the system since then.

Sorry for the pointless topic. It was just something that was on my mind.

It is not pointless, imo. While I have found freehand to be very, very hard and quite frustrating. But it is still miles better than the Lansky guided system. I am reprofiling a Becker...something. Can't remember the name but it is the ESEE collab. I put it on the Lansky to thin the edge and ended up trying to sharpen it just to see what I thought of the Lanksy after a year + of freehanding. I HATED the Lanksy even more now than when I went freehand. It was really slow even with the coarsest diamond stone. I am doing it freehand because it is so much more enjoyable.
