I had the pleasure of using my HR for the first time on a buck I took this evening. I had been saving it for a deer or a hog and finally got to use her. :D I love this knife. I don't know what made me happier, killing the buck or using my HR for the first time. It is still razor sharp, and it really worked well for me. I don't see myself carrying another knife into the woods during hunting season. Now I need to use it on a hog. Just thought I would share this with ya! :D

Congrats. I'm glad that you got a deer. Good luck on the Hog. Make sure you get some pics of that pig if you get one

:D:D

Will do Eric. I am attaching a pic of the small 5 point that I shot yesterday. It is dark, but if you look close you can see the HR.

Yall don't be making fun of my deer. Its going to make great jerkey, and tenderloins. :p

RattlerXX,
Congratulations on the deer. :cool::cool:

The Howler is a great hunting knife isn’t it. :D I’m looking forward to that HOG picture as well. And a keen Grunter Hunter myself. :D
Ian.

God forbid! Younger deer tend to be more tender. Besides, you can't eat horns.

BTW, did you use the Howler to "work magic" on the pelvic bone? My Battlerat does wonders for field dressing a deer, especially the pelvic bone.

My Camp Tramp and Bandicoot had their first taste of deer flesh this evening as well. The pelvis and sternum weren't even a challenge for the Tramp, and the coot is very quickly becoming a favorite as it never seems to lose it's edge the thing just keeps on cutting! I was really impressed with the Tramp for slicing. The 1/4" thick blade made nice 1/4" thick slices of which about 10 pounds worth are soaking in brine to become venison jerky as i type this. ;) :D
