Useful Reference Book

My all time favorite reference book is " Ancient Carpenters' Tools" by Henry C. Mercer, first printed in 1929. If you are ever near Doylestown Pennsylvania you need to visit The Mercer Museum.

Lovely! I see that straight haft axes predominate in the pre-1800 American selection but rudimentary curves are beginning to show on some.
 
I grew up near he Mercer museum. It is amazing. My dad had some of the ceramic tiles inlaid in our hearth from the tileworks. we also would go the Del Val ag day.
