Have you ever had gunk stuck between the lockbar and you couldn't get the gunk out with anything? I've been meaning to go to the store to pick up some pipe cleaners to solve that problem. Funny thing is when you go into the store and ask for them, no one knows what they are unless you say "Yeah you know, the stuff you did arts and craft with when we were kids."

Either route, I went to the local WalMart and picked up a pack of 100 for $2. They are way too long so you can cut them in half. 1/2 of a stick can probably last a few cleanings too!

Good idea. I have been getting bladeplay on my Mnandis. I wonder if gunk is what's causing it because it goes away after I clean it?

Ok, not wanting to use the words "cute" and "knife" in the same sentence, I'll just say that those FUZZY STICKS look useful, especially with open frame knives.

Bonus - 5 points to anyone who can remember what the FUZZY STICKS used to be called 20-30 years ago.

Very useful thanks! Normally when I am lazy and I dont want to take the knife apart I take a hose pipe and blast water into the knife pivot area, blow with compressed air and leave to dry, ad some fine machine oil to the pivot and good to go. Your tip will sure come in handy when those tools are not near by.

Bravo & +5 to nightman!

The OP had it in the first post

Well, that's what happens when I start reading posts before my first cup of coffee. I saw "fuzzy sticks" and that's as far as I got.

note to self - don't ever sign any legal documents before 10:00am.

woohoo +5 points to me by default! chants * default default default!* :p

Never even thought of that!....!

Goodbye cotton swab.

Was it just me or did you guys pull out some of the tip of the swab and twist it small enough to try to get into the nooks and crannies with no luck? Kind of like fishing for gunk....:p

I have some property in Florida real cheap, I'll call you around 8:00am to close the sale... Cash only please! :D

Back in the day when I had to walk to school in the blazing heat and snow uphill both ways, we call them Pipecleaners and loved it.

I use these wee brushes that I think are for your teeth, (not a regular tooth brush) they are like a really small test tube brush. They are great for cleaning out female threads and getting in about the pivot area too. :)

Wait wait wait, are you telling us you use these as a tooth brush to get female threads out of your teeth?

:D

Yes, they would probably work for that too. :p................I'll leave it there as this is sprinting towards W&C territory.
