hi,

what is the best traveling combination of tools?

example:

SAK classic in the washing bag,
leatherman juice or Vic Huntsman for multiuse

or

Vic Waiter for foodpreperation(big blade)
leatherman squirt P4 for tooluse(pliers)
classic because for personal care (scissors)

It depends on what I'll be doing while traveling but for light use I might bring a SOG Pocket Power Plier or Leatherman PST II. For heavier use I'd bring a Leatherman Charge or SOG PowerLock 2.0 or Victorinox SwissTool X. No matter what, I always bring a Victorinox Classic SD or a Rambler. If you're flying, remember to check your luggage... otherwise your multi-tools will end up on Ebay! ;)

For traveling I feel a light is a necessity so my list includes my Swiss-Tech Technician with LED plus maybe a Vic Classic. Another option would be to clip a photon microlight to my Vic Rucksack. Choices, choices. I plan on mating a Wenger Air Traveler (or Clipper AT) with a photon and give it a whirl.

When traveling by auto, I rely on a tool kit in my trunk and a Super Tool in the glove box for roadside emergencies. For personal use, my usual EDC is augmented by a Swisschamp packed in the luggage. For extended trips traveling by air, I might take along the ST, or a PST if the destination is somewhere locking blades are not street legal. These are not used often, but have sometimes come in very handy, several times saving a great deal of inconvenience. Traveling or otherwise, I am never without a keychain flashlight or close at hand Mini-Maglite and zipper pull compass. All these, and a credit card, will get me through whatever.
