User neck knife?

I have an old CRKT KISS neck knife that I've never worn. With a new shipment of paracord I decided to wrap the handle and put a neck loop on it.

I've found it's very useful. I like to wear it around the house when I'm in sweats and a tshirt instead of clipping a knife to my pockets. Problem is, this CRKT isn't very good quality and the edge isn't held worth a damn.

I'm looking for a good user knife, w/ skeleton handles that I can wrap with cord. I do not intend on wearing this knife as a self defense piece (that what a CCW is for, IMO), so something without a warncliff blade would be nice. I'm not a warncliff fan for users.

A 2.5-3" blade would be nice, of at least 440C. VG10 would be best.

What knives fit my needs? I've looked at the Benchmade and Spyderco neck knives and wasn't blown away by anything, but the Benchmade was better of the two.

Any ideas?

I am trying to think......I can think of some great neck knives, but none that meet your qualifications. Lemme think on this, so see if I can think of something. I am sure someone else will be along that CAN help!

Another vote for the Becker Necker. It's easy to get razor sharp, and can actually be used as a knife unlike some other "neck knives". Bill

I found the Becker handle a bit uncomfortable, but not impossibly so. Cord wrap would have improved it for sure. The blade, though, is excellent. The steel is the same 0170-6 that Camillus used on the larger Beckers and as Carbon V on CS knives, and Case uses as CV (chrome vanadium) steel.

I'll throw in my vote for the Hideaway. I have one and carried one for several months and really liked it. But the chain kept wrapping around my neck when if I forgot to take it off before falling asleep. Also, it irritated the hell out of my wife when it would smack her in the face when we were uh.. getting down. A word of advice: take off your neck knife when you crawl into the sack with your womam. I like the hideaway and the concept of carrying a neck knife, but in practice I've found it to be a pain in the ass.

Inadvertantly flashing your belly when you go for your knife is another undesirable side-effect of carrying a necker. I find pocket knives to be much more practical for EDC. I've taken to carrying slipjoints as my second knives rather than the Hideaway.

I have both of the CRKT Stiff KISS knives (small and large) and I carried the small one for a while a couple of years ago. I stopped carrying it for the same reasons I listed above.

I just thought of something...

Does anybody make a kydex neck sheath for a Delica 4? I could just remove the clip and carry that on my neck easily.

Legally speaking, my state doesn't allow a fixed blade to be carried unless it's for hunting. With a level head, a CCW permit and carrying a firearm its never really an issue, but it could be.

I love my D4, so carrying that on a neck sheath would work great.

Add another vote for the Becker Necker. It has a practical blade shape and is big enough for a lot of cutting tasks. 0170-6 is a fine steel. The sheath it comes with is pretty nice too. it helps to cord wrap the handle.

Get one while you can.

Smallish, but i really like the Randall King SNITCH.

I have a Syphon too but have'nt carried that yet.

I beleive rivercitysheaths does. I have one for my native and its great. He makes them out of concealx. With a little practice you can grab pull and open all in one motion. He makes other sheaths too. Check out his site at www.rivercitysheaths.com .

CRKT Falcon is what I use day to day- the scales are removable and you should be able to wrap with cord- and it is cheap too

I haven't yet tried cord wrapping mine, but the Busse Skeleton Warden will be an excellent neck knife.

Be sure to go and enter for your chance to win the one from Jaxx's giveaway if you have not already. (in the Busse forum)
