I finally found a source for a Bram Frank Gunting.
Which is best ,combination edge or plain edge?
Your opinions are appreciated ,i know there must be some owners of these fine knives out there & i would like to hear what you think.
Thanks,regards,Rick in Canada.

Also the combo's seem to be S30V (at least mine is) while the plain edges are from 440?

Yes. there were a limited number (verrry limited) of PE s30v models.

If you find a PE S30V, PICK THAT SUCKER UP IMMEDIATLY! BEAT DOWN YOUR DEALERS DOOR! Even at full retail! Last one I saw on ebay went way high.

I'd suggest combo edge for daily use.

Given that this knife is my favorite, as all who know me can testify to ;) , I'll chime in on this thread.

First, congrats on finding a source, they're getting tough to find now. I saw your WTB ad and wanted to point you towards one, but wasn't allowed to post.

For daily carry I would recommend a 440V PE or S30V CE, if only because they would both be easy to replace. Not sure of the exact numbers produced, but both of those models seem to pop up more often than 440V CE and the near mythical S30V PE (only around 90 were produced, from what I've heard)

Most online vendors still have some S30V CE lying around, and Ebay tends to produce 440V PE almost weekly. That's why I'd recommend one of these two models. If you can get ahold of one of the other two, by all means go for it.

A small side note, it may be my own anecdotal evidence, but I've noticed the 440V models lock up more solidly than the S30V versions.

Good luck with your choice, and rest assured knowing that, no matter what you choose, you've made a good choice. ;)

Very true. I acquired mine through sheer luck, and wouldn't dream of trying to pick up another on Ebay, my bank account wouldn't handle that.

If you can get one, grab it.

I have a plain edge on order ,i'm trying to find out what blade steel .
I'll let you guys know how i make out.
thanks for the info, very helpful .
Any idea how many pe & ce were produced?
Regards,Rick in Canada.

Not sure of exact numbers, but on the original run(440V) it seemed to be primarily Plain edge, while the later S30V version was almost entirely combo edge.

Hopefully you landed a S30V PE.

Good luck.

Alexandru,I like your designs very much & have to get one of the C102 adventura models.
Any more of your designs coming out in the near future?
I like them all but would particularly like the meercat powered by Gunting & the hommage to Bram Frank.
please advise, thanks ,regards, rick in Newfoundland ,Canada.

The dealer i found has both the pe & ce in 440v & some numbered drones.
Where's the best place to get a holster for this knife?
thanks,regards,Rick.
