Dear Mom has sent me an early Xmas present--A Rotozip Revolution with all the goodies including the right angle attachment with cutoff wheel, sanding disks, etc. Has anyone out there found a practical use for it in knifemaking? Has anyone attempted to use it to cut thin (less than 1/8") titanium stock? Sure is a neat little buggar around the house!

I think it would do a good job at cutting holes in vulcanized spacer material and the like for hidden tang knives.

Just a guess,
Nick

I shouldn't really say that they'd be more useful since I don't have any experience with a RotoZip, but I can tell you that you'll find a million uses around the knife shop for a dremel, or similar rotary tool.

I like the rotozip, but haven't used one with all the bells and whistles. My impression is that it would be a lot more useful around the house than in knifemaking. I like the Foredom better than the Dremel. With the variable speed foot control, I use it a lot on my handles. Sometimes I use a small angle grinder to rough out blades before I go my bench grinder. Saves belts. You need a light touch, a solid vise, and a decent attention span to be able to do that. Don't know if you could do that with the right angle attachment on the Rotozip or not.

Used my rotozip to cut out my slabs for my project from a chunk of ivory colored corian. I only use the corian on narrow tangs. Try it you'll like it!

Thanks, everyone! Tangus, I'm really intrigued by the Foredom--I may contact you with questions if that's OK. Terry, I just did discover Corian! Cool stuff! www.bgartforms.com (I think) sells every color and thickness of Corian and they cut it to the size (bulk) that you need with no waste! They are Art Specialties International at 1-800-721-4008.
