now to me a knife is the edge and when useing one in the camp or the kitchen if its not sharp its not fun . my wife has other ideas one of her must have knifes is so blunt its hard to tell the spine from the edge, this is her wedge and pry bar mostly used on frozen food. anyone else have a knife shaped object floting around the kitchen? or have found a better kitchen pry bar?

This was my life before I got really into knives. Everything was dull.
One fateful day, a recipe called for sliced tomatoes.

I couldn't even cut a fricken tomato

I was so upset, I decided that was the day I would learn to sharpen a knife.

There was no going back

Uses for a dull knife: Sharpening!

I've got a couple knives in the kitchen I use to pry stuff. I gotta say though, they are all still sharp.

My only dull knife lives in the garage. I use it to dig up stubborn weeds

I have a few family members that don't sharpen their kitchen knives . Got a couple of friends that buy a new knife when the other one gets dull.

Last time I tried to fix an old kitchen knife snd an old pocket knife both had never been sharpened. I had to take off so much steel to even get something that resembled a bevel. I preached and preached that they ruined their knives but it fell on deaf ears.

iam forbidden to sharpen that knife, my kitchen knifes are stupid sharp she never touchs them her other knifes are well not hair splitting sharp but better than most you find the the average kitchen and she is wicked good with them watching her chop is a unnerving experience, her hands are just a blur. its just the usefullness of the that dull short stout blade

I use a dull knife to cut hard boiled eggs. :)

Other than that I dunno...

Chicago Cutlery seems to feel that dull knives are great around the kitchen, and make everything out of something like 420J2.

I use my CC chef knife for cutting frozen pizza. That's all.

I have also read of, but have no experience with specialty tools called "butter knives".

Yesterday my wife was using a sauce pan as a hammer to hang a picture. We have hammers. I keep cheap knives in the kitchen, after she uses them it looks as if she fought off a hoard of ninja. Get lots of sharpening practice.

Scraping gunk off engines that's not worth dulling a sharp knife over

My favorite use for dull knives is getting to work on my sharpening skills.

Finally taught my fiancee to use a kitchen knife properly...next step is to not leave my carbon gyuto soaking in the sink. No dull knives in this house though.
