Uses for the hook on Victorinox knives

I have been thinking about what I could use the hook on the backs of Victorinox knives for, and all I have come up with so far are paracord tying (fits 550 cord perfectly), holding up a stringer of fish, and carrying twine-wrapped parcels. Does anyone have any more uses, real or otherwise, for the infamous Multi Purpose Hook?

Plastic grocery bags can be painful to hold after a while when the 'handles' cut into your hand - the hook allows your SAK to be used as a more comfortable carry handle.

The hook isn't really big enough to hold the bags securely on its own. It works great in conjunction with a carabiner though. Just thread the carabiner through the plastic handles of all your bags and then use the hook on the carabiner.

Lol Nice Vid.

Anyways Here's Some Uses:
Carrying Grocery Bags
Carrying 6 Pack Of Whatever
Carrying 12 Pack Of Pop - Or Whatever
Carrying Tool Box
Carry Gifts In Gift Bags
Backpack When Your Shoulder Hurts
If You Dropped Something In The Garbage Disposal And Need To Get It Out Without It Or Yourself Getting Stuck, Just Fish It Out.

And Really A Lot Of Things.

This is one of the thnings that I love about SAKs, the parcel hook is probably one of the least usefull tools in a Vic and here you have around ten different uses for it.
This things are now part of me, I feel naked by leaving the hose without one of my SAKs.
Best Regards

we get this thread every few months! lol but it is worth repeating (salute)

coat hanger (hook on nail/protrusion with clothing on body of sak)
holding the pen (thus making it longer and easier to hold)
pulling things out of tight places
picking up hot things (with a bail) like at a camp fire
pulling cord, wire
and more!

Ive used the hook to hold the string from a wrapped package and the knife scales as the handle....but only after I read it here in the forums lol

It is for opening the tabs on pop/soda cans. The protrusion on the back of the hook is to lift the tab from the can high enough to get the hook under it. I guess it is supposed to save your nails from breaking when trying to lift the tab?

I thought the protrusion from the back of the hook was for getting it out of the handle, I always used a p38 for stubborn cans, I guess that would work too, gonna have to try it. Thanks all!

The Mictorinix shop manual depicts it lifting a greasy bike chain back on it's sprocket
