Uses of an EDC Knife

Obviously we are here because we all love knives, and I love using mine. However, I've been thinking recently that I'm not using my knife for a whole lot of things, and would like to broaden the uses of my knives.

So what is a list of all the uses of a good EDC knife?

Thanks

Son, use your imagination.

No, I'm 19 so I have no sons or wisdom to give them. But, it shouldn't be a struggle top fine a use for a knife. If it is, I suggest you take like 3 days off work or school (preferably Monday Tuesday Wednesday or Wednesday Thursday Friday) and just go hike or camp or hunt or fish. Get away from packaged living. Build something. Start a project.

Or just make yourself dinner (not packaged stuff) with your edc. Buy some meat and vegetables, cut all that stuff up to your liking, and cook it up hard. You will enjoy it more.

In the last few days I have used mine to cut up an apple, peel an orange, open boxes, cut down a large box, and cut the wrapper around the top of a wine bottle so I could open it. Also to cut the hospital wrist band off. And I haven't been fishing or working in my shop which would add additional uses.

Option1
Sit in front of the TV, open your knife, admire it, close it repeat this until you are:
A:done watching tv
B:your significant other throws a shoe at you
C:Press pause and get a new knife from your collection to play with

Option 2
Open some boxes

Option 3
Go outside and find a project that requires cutting, the more ridiculous excuse to cut something the better.
Her: "honey...where is my rose bush?" You: "ummm....it needed cutting?"

Uses of an EDC blade? Eh, this and that. Fighting off a hoard of ninja space alien zombies, carving my face next to the other Presidents on Mt. Rushmore (my knife needed a good stropping after that one, you can relate I'm sure!), and oh, I think I've sliced a couple apples up in the past. But not often.

You use it for quite a lot. Tearing of dead skin or nails. I am a student so use mine at night really or during weekends. I open a lot of mail packages and boxes. I am constantly finding something to open or thread of clothing to cut off. I get a lot of use during the summer with my knives as I that is when I work the most (at a mailroom) so I am constantly cutting straps, boxes, plastic, cardboard, and a bunch of other stuff. So sometimes in summer I get another knife kick and buy some knives unlike the early spring when I am kind of selling knives to buy firearms stuff for shooting season.

Food prep/kitchen utility;
Opening food for the pets;
Opening various packages;
Cutting loose thread on old clothes;
Removing tags from new clothes;
Opening salt bags for the water softener;
Opening mail;
Cleaning under fingernails;
Light prying tasks;
Cutting pills/meds in half;
Cutting rope and twine;
Chipping ice;
Showing off to my friends;
Scaring people who are not my friends;
Holding and fondling and generally making myself feel warm and fuzzy;
And, of course, opening boxes containing my new knives!

Dragon slaying.

Or they may have been cardboard boxes. It's hard to be sure.

No, I'm pretty sure they were dragons.

I just used mine to make a shotgun hole in an energy drink. Was it worth dulling the edge? Probably not. Does it still cut? Heck yeah. Can I sharpen it with ease? Heck yeah. Will this energy drink make writing this essay any better? Almost for sure no.

1) get some house plants
2) only water house plants 1/2 of what they need, they will require lots of trimming
*note buy cheap plants, you'll go threw them fast

Food packaging

Paper shredding (paid bills, addressed envelopes, no longer needed canceled checks)

Just cut strips of paper into bookmarks to denote locations of evidence. There's a second thing since this thread started.

Knives are great for clearing tables at those crowded Starbucks.

Just pick any occupied table, sit down to it, pull out your ZT and start fingering it while you giggle maniacally. Et voila! You'll soon have plenty of seating for your friends (if you have any friends, that is).

Anything that could be ripped open with hands or scissors, use a knife.
Instead of knife and fork, knife and knife.
All the annoying junk mail and telephone books are shredded as well.
You're going to need a sharpening system ;)

Reserve the entire store by having your friends all do the same. ..

Sure you might spend a night in the tank at the county jail...

Punching carbs on beer cans, opening bottles. And the other stuff people
Mentioned.

-Making dinner. Some production folders cut better than kitchen knives, your skill at cutting stuff improves.
-Opening anything
-Eating an apple like a bad a***

Get a job in a factory. And two knives. A nice one for you and a beater for everyone else. Those same people that ask why do you carry a knife like that? And the ten minutes later they ask to borrow it. (They get the "China stainless" knife. My good knives stay safe.

Yeah, you used to look for a knife for your situation... now you look for a situation for your knife! ;)

(paraphrased from a flashlight forumite's sig line!)

Use #3:

Stress relief.
Step 1: Open, concentrating on the smoothness and engineering prowess.
Step 2: stab into your notes.
Step 3: repeat steps 1 and 2.
