Using a fly cutter

I wanted to get into folders so I ordered a mill and some tooling. What tool do I use with the fly cutter to cut a nail nick in a folder blade? I ordered a 1/2" fly cutter set. Is there any other option? If I want to do a long pull nail nick I will use a small ball nose end mill (unless there is a better option). Thanks in advance.

I use the small 1/2" dremel saws at about 1000r.pm.'s. They work well with about a .010 cut and have a much
shorter plunge than larger ones. Plus you can grind them to any thickness you want, if you want a thinner nick.
This is for a long pull.

Thanks for the tip Ken. The smallest I've seen on the Dremel website is 15/16ths for the regular kind and 7/8ths for the Premium Metal Cutting Wheel. Do you buy a different brand?

For a fly cutter nick, you have to re-shape the tool insert. I'll see if I can find a picture...

No they are dremel I'll go out and check.---- guess the diameter is closer to 3/8" which is even
better for a more "straight in" plunge.

Thanks guys. I have a few books on the way and will be watching some videos to learn as I go along.
